Who this is about

Nantucket Angel Warriors runs events for island teenagers. To let a teen sign up for an event, we have to hold some information about them and about the adult responsible for them. This page says exactly what that is.

What we collect when you make an account

A teen account holds:

• Name, email address, and phone number if given.
• Date of birth — used to check the person is 14 or older, which is the minimum age to join.
• A parent or guardian's name, email address, and phone number.
• Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. Nobody at Angel Warriors can read it, including us.
• Whether you agreed to the photo and name release, and the date you signed each waiver.

Who can see it

Angel Warriors organisers can see the accounts and rosters they run. A venue host — the person at the Dreamland or the NRSA — can see only the teens registered for their own venue's events, and the parents volunteering at them. A parent can see their own teen, not other teens at an event. Signed-in teens may see names of other participants only when an event is set to show them.

We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not share this with advertisers.

The outside services we use

Five, each for one job:

• Vercel hosts the site, and Neon stores the database. Both are in the United States.
• Resend sends the email — confirmations, reminders, and the note to a parent when their teen signs up.
• Stripe takes donations. Card numbers go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems.
• PostHog counts anonymous usage so we know which pages matter. It is deliberately restricted: all on-screen text is masked before anything is recorded, and anything after a “?” in a web address is stripped so a link containing your details cannot leak through it. It does work out roughly where you are — the town, not the street — from your IP address, so we can see whether the programme is reaching the whole island or only one end of it.
• Google Analytics counts visits, so we can see which evenings people actually look at. It is restricted too, and in the ways that matter for a site teenagers use: Google’s advertising features and its tracking of the same person across devices are both switched off, and the web address is cleaned before it is sent — anything after a “?” is removed, and the one-off links in our emails, like the unsubscribe link and a signed waiver, are replaced with a label rather than sent as they are. Google does not store your IP address in this product; it uses it to work out roughly where you are and then discards it.

Emergency contacts, and anything you tell us about your teen

A parent can add emergency contacts for their teen, and a short note about anything an organiser should know — an allergy, something they need to have with them, a condition that affects what they can join in with. All of it is optional. Leaving it blank changes nothing about what your teen can take part in, and we do not ask again.

We deliberately do not collect a health history. There is no insurance number, no doctor's name, no immunisation record, no list of diagnoses or prescriptions. Angel Warriors does not provide medical care, does not give out medication, and has no nurse — so we hold the little that helps on the night and nothing that only looks thorough.

• Two things, separately: a note for organisers, and a single line you write yourself for whoever is on the door. Only the line you write appears on a roster at an event.
• Whether your teen carries an EpiPen, inhaler, or diabetes supplies — so we can ask them at check-in whether they have it with them. We cannot keep one here on their behalf, so having their own is the whole plan.
• Who reads the note: Angel Warriors organisers, and the volunteer leading an evening your teen is signed up for. Not the staff at the venue — they are told what they need to run the room safely, without naming anybody.
• Every time somebody opens the note, that is recorded, and you can see the list on your teen's page. Your teen can see it too.
• We ask you to confirm once a year that it is still right, because a note somebody relies on needs to be current. You can clear it yourself whenever you like — emptying the form deletes it — and deleting the account removes it with everything else.

Photographs

Every teen and parent has to agree to the photo and name release before an account can be created — declining stops the sign-up rather than quietly going ahead without it. If you change your mind, email us and we will take the photograph down.

The mailing list

The sign-up at the foot of the home page is separate from having an account. It stores the email address you give and the name if you give one, and nothing else — no account is created and none is needed.

Every message sent to that list carries a link that takes you off it, and following that link is the whole process. You can also just ask: email us, or say so to an organiser, and we will do it. Removing you leaves a record that you asked, so that typing the address in again later is the only thing that puts you back on.

Having your information removed

Email info@nantucketangelwarriors.org and ask. We will delete the account and everything attached to it — sign-ups, waivers, and photographs. There is no form to fill in and no waiting period beyond the time it takes a person to read the message.
