What we hold, why we hold it, and how to get rid of it.
Who this is about
Nantucket Angel Warriors runs events for island teenagers. To let a teen sign up for an event, we have to hold some information about them and about the adult responsible for them. This page says exactly what that is.
What we collect when you make an account
A teen account holds:
- Name, email address, and phone number if given.
- Date of birth — used to check the person is 13 or older, which is the minimum age to join.
- Home town, state and ZIP. We use the town to tell island teens from off-island sign-ups; an off-island address is flagged for a human to look at, never automatically rejected.
- A parent or guardian's name, email address, and phone number.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. Nobody at Angel Warriors can read it, including us.
- Whether you agreed to the photo and name release, and the date you signed each waiver.
Who can see it
Angel Warriors organisers can see the accounts and rosters they run. A venue host — the person at the Dreamland or the Westmoor Club — can see only the teens registered for their own venue's events, and the parents volunteering at them. A parent can see their own teen. Teens see each other only as names on a roster.
We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not share this with advertisers.
The outside services we use
Four, each for one job:
- Vercel hosts the site, and Neon stores the database. Both are in the United States.
- Resend sends the email — confirmations, reminders, and the note to a parent when their teen signs up.
- Stripe takes donations. Card numbers go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems.
- PostHog counts anonymous usage so we know which pages matter. It is deliberately restricted: all on-screen text is masked before anything is recorded, location lookup is switched off, and anything after a “?” in a web address is stripped so a link containing your details cannot leak through it.
Photographs
Every teen and parent has to agree to the photo and name release before an account can be created — declining stops the sign-up rather than quietly going ahead without it. If you change your mind, email us and we will take the photograph down.
The mailing list
The sign-up at the foot of the home page is separate from having an account. It stores the email address you give and the name if you give one, and nothing else — no account is created and none is needed.
Every message sent to that list carries a link that takes you off it, and following that link is the whole process. You can also just ask: email us, or say so to an organiser, and we will do it. Removing you leaves a record that you asked, so that typing the address in again later is the only thing that puts you back on.
Having your information removed
Email info@nantucketangelwarriors.org and ask. We will delete the account and everything attached to it — sign-ups, waivers, and photographs. There is no form to fill in and no waiting period beyond the time it takes a person to read the message.
